A Quick Weekend In Bermuda

Dispatches from a Condé Nast Women Who Travel adventure.

Ever since my best friend flew back from a quick weekend in Bermuda and raved to me about how incredible it was during her layover in New York—I was set on visiting the pastel dotted island. Fast forward a few months later and the stars seemed to have aligned: Women Who Travel (a community of seasoned travel lovers and trip offerings curated by Condé Nast Traveler editors) was holding a contest, exclusively for their Facebook group members, to win a special edition trip to Bermuda in partnership with Bermuda Tourism Authority.

So, I applied and boom! After that, this email was waiting for me in my inbox:

Women Who Travel Bermuda Trip
Cue my freak out.
Read on for my favorite moments of the trip—plus all of my recommended must-do’s.

Unwind at the Hamilton Princess Beach & Club.

Iconic pink walls, a harbor-side infinity pool, and overwater hammocks at the hotel’s nearby private beach club. Need I say more?

Rum swizzles, the unofficial national drink of Bermuda.

If I’m going to drink, I’m probably drinking rum. And rum swizzles are too good to pass up. You can’t visit Bermuda without sipping on one of these. However, a Dark N Stormy is a close second on my must-have-while-in-Bermuda list.

Enjoy a farm-to-table dinner (if you can).

Our first night in Bermuda was absolute magic. After drinks at our hotel we were whisked away to the MOST gorgeous private villa for a dinner thrown by Dasfete and prepared by local forager and chef Doreen Williams-James. Never have I ever had such an indulgent and delicious vegan meal in such a beautiful setting. My GOD, I still can’t get over it.

Charter a catamaran for a day.

We were lucky enough to do this with SailBermuda who were SO amazing and brought us to all the best hidden coves and private swimming holes around the island. Drinking rosé and eating Salty Lime Mexican cuisine on board with unreal aquamarine water around you immediately sends you into vacation mode.

Get to know the locals.

Our local host Kristin White brought us in on every detail of life on the island and kept us laughing, to the point of tears, all day long. Her spirit is infectious and I would recommend her walking / bike tours to anyone and everyone! She was truly the cherry on top of our three days in Bermuda.

Eat at Marcus, a fine dining spot.

The crispy buttermilk cauliflower is to die for.

Explore the town of St. George, the oldest town in Bermuda.

Walk the cobblestoned streets, stop by Go Jo’s Coffee Shop, checked out Kristin’s bookstore Long Story Short, and snap some photos at the Unfinished Church.

To sum things up, my quick weekend in Bermuda with Women Who Travel and El Camino Travel was a total dream. Above all, I’m SO thankful to have been selected for such a special experience alongside such inspiring, like-minded women. If you’re looking to try out group travel I highly recommend looking into their 2020 itineraries (including Cuba, Colombia, and Mexico!).

If not, Bermuda is a quick, dreamy getaway you should plan sooner, rather than later.
